Do you need a license to fly a drone?

If you intend to fly a drone for recreational use, then no license is required, however there are many rules that need to be followed to ensure the safety of yourself and others. Please refer to the following link for more information, Drone rules | Civil Aviation Safety Authority (casa.gov.au).
If, however, your intention for flying a drone is for any type of commercial gain than you will require a commercial license issued by CASA, in the form of Remote Pilot License (RePL) and RPA Operator Certificate (ReOC).
Yes, our company is fully licensed with the Civil Aviation and Safety Authority (CASA), holding a Remotely Piloted Aircraft Operator's Certificate (ReOC), enabling us to perform operations in restricted areas, such as, within 5.5km of an airport. In addition to this, our pilot is a CASA certified Chief Remote Pilot and Remote Pilot License (RePL)
Yes we are. We have $10 million public liability insurance. Policy No. CC1137547
Dimension Drones Mackay strictly adhere to all CASA regulations, which include:
- Not to fly your drone higher than 120 metres (400 feet) above ground level
- Our drones must be kept at least 15 metres away from other people.
- Our drones must be kept within visual line-of-sight.
- Our drones can fly within 5.5km of an airport with correct CASA approval.

Only with permission of the land holder. To this note, if people are required to be in the photos or videos, then permission must also be granted by them.
